Mariposa
My Aunt asked me to take some pictures in and around my neighborhood in Los Angeles. I thought it would be nice to include some landmarks like the post office, the library, my mechanic, my apartment etc. On Mariposa Avenue the passage of time is obscured by the endless summer. The atmosphere is of children, old women, palms, light and flowers. I’ve gathered these pictures slowly. Meditatively. Each day attuning to life’s rhythms as the light falls and recedes upon the same flowers and facades. The elderly amble down the sidewalk as the kids pass them on their way to school. I visit and revisit, day after day a witness to the slow inevitable changes occurring amid the endless repetitions of everyday life.
